Nepali Banknotes

RS. 100 BANKNOTE WITH MT. EVEREST



On September 29, 2008 Nepal issued a new banknote of 100 Rupees denomination with usual color and size. On front left it has the picture of Mount Everest from south face, on right it has the watermark of Nepal’s national flower Rhododendron. It has the signature of acting Governor Mr.K.B.Manandhar.



RS. 10 BANKNOTE WITH MT. EVEREST


On September 26, 2008 Nepal issued a new banknote of 10 Rupees denomination with usual color and size. On front left it has the picture of Mount Everest from south face, on right it has the watermark of Nepal’s national flower Rhododendron. It has the signature of acting Governor Mr.K.B.Manandhar.

On September 23, 2008 Nepal issued a new banknote of 5 Rupees denomination with usual color and size. NATIVE POSTMARKS OF NEPAL

Postmark/Kathmandu:
The postmark Kathmandu is the first postmark used for canceling stamps after the introducing of stamp in Nepal in 1881 AD. This beautiful postmark was made in hexagon shape with curvy lines inside. At the center of postmark there is written 'Ne'. means Nepal which is the old synonym for Kathmandu. During the early times the area of Kathmandu was called Nepal since the valley of Kathmandu was known as 'Nepa'' Therefore, in many early postmark there was written only NE. The use of Nepal on postmarks was started very late in 1930s only.

Postmark/Birganj:
The postmark Birganj is the first postmark introduce by the Nepal Government after the establishment of Birganj post office. Birganj post office is one of the most important post offices of Nepal as it was the gate way of Nepal for India. Although a near by kalaiya was major postal route to India from Kathmandu at the time, but later due to the development of railhead up to Raxual and other factors, Birganj Become more important postal route and in replaced kalaiya. This postmark was first appeared in 1909 AD.

Postmark/ Bethari:
The postmark Bethari is supposed to be one of the most beautiful and significant postmarks not only in Nepal but within the whole world as well. The design of this postmark in quite unique and interesting. There is written shree Bhagawanpur Mu: Bethari 72. The word 'Mu' for Mukaam, means Temporary post. The Bhagawanpur stands as a main post office at that time and Bethari itself as a temporary post office during the times of annual flood of Tinau River. All these above inscriptions are enclosed in a symbolic letter of 'Hu'. Hence this postmark is extremely rare postmark of Nepal.

Postmark/ Kanchanpu:
The postmark Kanchanpur is a seal postmark with the intricate design containing shree kanchanpur Hulak Adda 91 and was devised in 1934 AD. The post office kanchanpur is in far western part of Nepal, is very old post office started since 1881 AD and there exist several connected with the main postal line upto pyuthan by a branch postal line Banke, Bardia and Kailali traversing a total span of 419.50 miles from Kathmandu.

Postmark/ Gulmi Tamghas:
The postmark Gulmi Tamghas was introduce in 2009 AD. This beautiful postmark was design in betel leaf shape, inside this there is written Shree Gulmi Tamghas Hulak 2009. At the centre there is rectangular space for writing date. Tamghas is the headquater of Gulmi district and is a beautiful small town situated at the bottom of Resunga and Arjun hills. The town of Ruru is a market center and holy place Resunga is very rich in biodiversity and ha historic values.
