Litterateur Shankar Lamichhane (1928-1976 AD)
Shankhar Lamichhane was an eminent Essayist of Nepal's Literature. He was born in 4th Chaitra, 1984 B.S. in Jaisidewal, Kathmandu, Nepal. Son of Mr. Hari Prasad Lamichhane and Mrs. Raj Kumari Lamichhane.
He started his literary journey by his article titled "Hamro Samajma Nari ko Mulya" published in literary magazine "Sahity Shrot" in the year 2003 B.S. in 2024 B.S. he received Madan Puraskar (Literary award) for his collection of essay "Abstract chintan: Pyaj". As a talented essayist he has written various books as "Gauthaliko Gund" (a collection of stories, 2027 B.S.), "Godhuli Sansar" (Collection of essays, 2027 B.S.), "Bimba Pratibimba" (review, 2027 B.S.), "Shankar Lamichhane" (autobiography, 2032 B.S.) and "Essay of Shankar Lamichhane". His writing are often based of experimental essays. He has edited a course book "Hamro Sahity" from grade one to grade eight. He also worked as an editor of Indreni Magazine.
To honor his contribution in the field of Nepali Literature, The Postal Services Department of Nepal issue this commemorative Postage stamp depicting his portrait.

Musician Mr. Yagyaraj Sharma Arjyal (1903- 1989 AD)
In the history of Nepali music an eminent musician Mr. Yagyaraj Sharma Arjyal was born in 1093 A.D. on the auspicious day of Shivaratri in Gyaneshwor, Kathmandu. He received his preliminary education at home and later he went to Durbar High School. He was the second son of Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari and Mr. Vedraj Arjyal. While studying in Durbar High School he lost his father. Later he went to Mumbai (Bombay) and studied music for three years from Belayat Hussian Khan and Faiyaz Khan of Baroda. He further learned music from Krishna Rao Shankar of Gwalior and after completing his education he returned to Nepal.
Pundit Yagyaraj Sharma Arjyal was the first to start the music education in Nepal. He had many students during the Rana regime. Musicians like Nararaj Dhakal and Ustad (Master) Ganesh Lal were his students. Though Juddha Shamsher did appreciate his talent in music, it was King Mahandra who helped him to establish the first school of music in the year 2012 B.S. and fourty eight Nepalese students have received the degree in music from there.
For his didication and devotion towards music he was awarded the most outstanding musician award "Sangeet Shiromani" in B.S. 2013. He was appointed the member of Academic council of Nepal Academy. He was the chief of music department from B.S. 2014 to B.S. 2022. Later he was the life member of Nepal Academy. His invention of music instrument and music like 'Istaka Taranga" awarded him Rs. 10,000/- (Ten thousand).
